Vodafone, Lexicon Pharma Slip Into Friday's 52-Week Low Club

January 25, 2019: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among just 14 equities that have posted new 52-week lows by the noon hour Friday. On the New York Stock Exchange, advancers led decliners by about 4.15 to 1 and advancers led decliners on the Nasdaq by about 2.83 to 1.
The three major indexes traded solidly higher with gains of around 1% or more. Crude oil traded up about 0.9% on the day at $53.62 a barrel. Gold was trading up about 1.4% at $1,298.20 for the day.
Vodafone Group PLC (NASDAQ: VOD) traded down about 3.8% to post a new 52-week low of $17.86 Friday, after closing at $18.56 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $32.41. Volume was about 20% below the daily average of around 8.1 million. The company announced this morning that it plans to hold off on further deployment of Huawei products in its core networks.
Amneal Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NYSE: AMRX) dropped about 2.6% Friday to set a new 52-week low of $11.68. Shares closed at $11.99 on Thursday, and the stock’s 52-week high is $24.48. Volume was about equal to the daily average of about 1.0 million. The company reported quarterly results after markets closed Thursday.
Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: LXRX) traded down about 6.6% to post a new 52-week low of $4.27 Friday, after closing at $4.57 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $13.97, and volume was about 15% higher than the daily average of around 610,000. The company had no specific news.
Maiden Holdings Ltd. (NASDAQ: MHLD) traded down about 6.6% Friday and posted a new 52-week low of $1.12, after closing Thursday at $1.20. The stock’s 52-week high is $9.10. Volume was about 75% lower than the daily average of around 830,000. The Bermuda-based reinsurance provider had no specific news.
