Tuesday was a relatively flat day for the broad U.S. markets. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones could not make up their minds in this session bouncing from positive to negative and back multiple times. Crude mirrored the markets in the session. The S&P 500 sectors were more or less split down the middle. The most positive sectors were real estate and consumer discretionary up 0.4% each. The worst performing sectors were industrials and materials, down 0.5% and 0.4%, respectively.
Crude oil was last seen flat at $56.58.
Gold was last seen trading flat at $1,288.20.
The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close was Aon PLC (NYSE: AON) which traded down about 8% at $157.30. The stock’s 52-week range is $134.82 to $173.53. Volume was about 6.5 million compared to the daily average volume of 1.1 million.
The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage gain in the S&P 500 ahead of the close was Kohl’s Corp. (NYSE: KSS) which rose by about 7% to $71.41. The stock’s 52-week range is $57.89 to $83.28. Volume was 10.5 million compared to the daily average volume of 3.5 million.
