Tuesday's Biggest Winners and Losers in the S&P 500

March 12, 2019: The S&P 500 closed up 0.3% at 2,791.94. The DJIA closed down 0.3% at 25,562.83. Separately, the Nasdaq closed up 0.4% at 7,591.03.

Monday was a relatively positive day for the broad U.S. markets. While the S&P 500 and Nasdaq continued to climb this week, the DJIA lagged and was negative in the session. Crude oil made a slight gain again. The S&P 500 sectors were almost entirely positive. The most positive sectors were health care, energy, and utilities up 0.7%, 0.6% and 0.6%, respectively. The worst performing sectors were industrials and consumer staples down 0.9% and 0.1%, respectively.

Crude oil was last seen up 0.2% at $56.91.

Gold was last seen trading up 0.8% at $1,301.80.

The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close was F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV) which traded down about 8% at $149.65. The stock’s 52-week range is $138.67 to $199.71. Volume was about 2.2 million compared to the daily average volume of 0.7 million.

The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage gain in the S&P 500 ahead of the close was EQT Corp. (NYSE: EQT) which rose by about 5% to $19.65. The stock’s 52-week range is $16.29 to $31.24. Volume was 3.9 million compared to the daily average volume of 5.1 million.
