Wednesday's Biggest Winners and Losers in the S&P 500

April 10, 2019: The S&P 500 closed up 0.4% at 2,888.38. The Dow closed flat at 26,159.33. Separately, the Nasdaq closed up 0.7% at 7,964.24.
Wednesday was a relatively positive day for the broad U.S. markets. While the S&P 500 and Nasdaq made meaningful gains on Monday, the Dow was more or less flat. Keep in mind that earnings season is just around the corner and a couple of major banks report later this week. Crude oil made a solid gain in the session. The S&P 500 sectors were more or less split down the middle. The most positive sectors were real estate and technology each up 0.6%. The worst performing sectors were utilities and materials down 0.4%, and 0.2%, respectively.
Crude oil was last seen up 0.8% at $64.48.
Gold was last seen trading up 0.3% at $1,312.50.
The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close was AmerisourceBergan Corp. (NYSE: ABC) which traded down over 4% at $74.11. The stock’s 52-week range is $69.36 to $95.00. Volume was about 2.7 million compared to the daily average volume of 1.5 million.
The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage gain ahead of the close was Conagra Brands, Inc. (NYSE: CAG) which rose by about 7% to $29.42. The stock’s 52-week range is $20.22 to $39.43. Volume was about 14 million compared to the daily average volume of 8.2 million.
