Thinkstock

McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE: MCD), one of the oldest fast food companies in the world. will use one of the newest social media networks, Snap Inc.’s (NYSE: SNAP) Snapchat to recruit 250,000 summer workers.

The use of Snap for the project will include both McDonald’s owned stores and franchises. The Snap system allows applicants to apply to specific restaurants.

McDonald’s pointed out on Twitter that half of its summer hires are between 16 to 24. The fast food company also pointed out that about 80% of GEN zers use Snapchat daily. For the uninitiated these are people born between the late 1990s and early 2000s.

For McDonald’s the program appears to be a cheap and simple method to recruit labor. For Snap, which has faltered since its IPO, it is a way to show relevance. particularly to big marketers and advertisers.
