24/7 Wall St.--Channel Checkers Survey: PS3 Sales Stronger Than Expected

wiiAccording to the new 24/7 Wall St–Channel Checkers Survey of  30 Game Stop (GME) and EB Games locations, Sony (SNE) PS3 sales are better relative to Microsoft (MSFT) Xbox and Nintendo Wii than they have been at any time in the last year.

When asked which is the best selling game platform, 40% of retailers said Microsoft X-box, 27% cited the Nintendo Wii, while an additional 13% thought the Nintendo DS was the top seller. Twenty-percent of respondents picked the Sony PlayStation 3 as the top selling console.

Street Fighter IV, produced by Capcom for the X-Box and PlayStation 3,  was picked as the best-selling game by 37% of respondents.

Halo Wars, which launched midnight on March 2, was the most anticipated new game coming out in the next three months by 27% of respondents. Another 27% thought Resident Evil 5 (also from Capcom) would be the top new game while 10% cited Major League Baseball 2K9, which launched March 3rd.
