Wii Sales Jump For Nintendo In December

Sales of Nintendo’s flagship Wii video console skidded this past fall. There were concerns among the company’s shareholders that the product was losing its novelty and that heavy discounts on rival machines, particularly the Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox 360 and Sony (NYSE:SNE) PS3, were taking Wii market share. Several popular games for Nintendo rivals Xbox and Playstation were launched in the last quarter, helping to drive their sales up.
