Amazon Promotes 2-Day Shipping, Offers New Daily Deals

Wikimedia Commons

There is still time for last-minute shoppers to save some serious cash on a variety of items and get the goods delivered in time for Christmas. At least that’s the story from Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN).

For customers who subscribe to Amazon Prime, free two-day shipping is available through Tuesday, December 22. For non-subscribers, two-day shipping is also an option, though it’s not free.

One-day shipping is available to Amazon Prime customers for a minimum price of $2.99 per item. The price varies by size and weight, so this could get expensive. The cutoff date for one-day shipping is December 23.

In 16 metropolitan areas, same-day delivery is available on “over a million items.” For Prime subscribers, same-day delivery is free with an order valued at $35 or more. This service is available until Christmas Eve.

There’s even an option for world-class procrastinators: gift cards or an Amazon Prime membership can be ordered and delivered on Christmas Day.

All these last-minute shipping deals are available in the Lower 48 states only, and the cutoff dates may vary by item.

And what are some of Amazon’s deals of the day? For the home do-it-yourselfer, how about a Black+Decker Drill/Driver (BDCDMT120C) for $49.99, a savings of 62%, probably more than enough to pay for last-minute shipping.

Amazon’s Monday deals also include a JAM Bluetooth Wireless Speaker (HX-P230BL) for just $16.99, a savings of 66%, or a pair of Merrell Men’s Turku Trek waterproof winter boots for $77, a savings of 45%. A pair of waterproof winter boots for women, the Merrell Captiva Mid 2, is selling for $93.50, a savings of 45%, on a Monday daily deal as well.
