Best Buy Still Focused on Apple Deals

courtesy of Apple Inc.

During the past holiday season, Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE: BBY) heavily promoted TVs, computers and smartphones, and no manufacturer got more pixels than Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL). Now that’s a subjective statement, and we don’t have any data to back it up, but we’ve spent a considerable amount of time looking at Best Buy’s promotions and that’s what we’ve concluded.

And the hits just keep on coming. In an email promotion Saturday, Best Buy was again promoting price savings on Apple Watches, iPads and MacBooks. Either the Apple products are good sellers at these price points and Best Buy wants to make sure to wring out every last potential customer, or Best Buy has stacks of these items in inventory and needs to clear them out.

For example, a 38mm Apple Watch Sport (MJ2X2LL/A) is being offered at $249, a savings of $100 from the regular price of $349. An open-box model is on sale for $224.

A more upscale 38mm Apple Watch with the Milanese Loop stainless steel band (MJ322LL/A) is now going for $549, again a $100 savings off the regular price. The open-box version is available for $494.

Best Buy is offering an iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi and 16 gigabyte (GB) of memory (MH0W2LL/A) for $374.99, a savings of $125 from the regular price of $499.99. An open-box model is on offer for $$337.

A 13.3-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, 8 GB of memory and 128 GB of flash storage (MF839LL/A) is selling for $1,149.99, a savings of $150 from the regular price. An open-box model is available for $1,045.99.

One promoted item that is not on sale is Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. Best Buy is selling one model in three different colors for $379.99 with a price match guarantee. Open-box versions are selling for $246.99.

Best Buy plans to release its holiday sales results on Thursday, January 14. Then we’ll get a better idea of how all these Apple promotions fared.
