One reason Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) is so successful is that a customer can buy just about anything from the company or one of its resellers. In fact, the total number of items available probably exceeds 300 million. That’s a lot of choice.

In addition to the range of items, prices vary from $0.01 to thousands of dollars. A lot of those items for sale for a penny also include shipping fees that provide some profit for the seller. For example, a butterfly-style corkscrew sells for a penny from one reseller who charges $4.99 for shipping the device. Wal-Mart sells a similar corkscrew online for $4.04 plus $5 shipping from a reseller of its own. The device costs $4.97 in the brick-and-mortar store.

We looked through some of Amazon’s departments and picked out 10 items that cost less than $10 and that could actually save a shopper some time and money at that price.

If you like to wax your own car, for example, you might consider a package of eight microfiber applicators (MIC_292_08) sold by Amazon for $9.99. You can save 15% with a coupon, and shipping charges will apply unless your total order amounts to at least $49.
