The Best Company to Work for in Every State

The University of Vermont Medical Center

For the more than 151 million Americans who spend much of their waking life at work — job satisfaction can be critical to overall happiness. Perhaps the most important component of job satisfaction is selecting a career that lines up with one’s interests and talents. After that, working for the right company can make all the difference.

While there are many online forums for American workers to voice their opinions about their current and former employers, such reviews are inherently subjective and often unsubstantiated by hard facts. To account for this shortcoming, career site Zippia created a formula to more objectively rank companies. The metrics used in Zippia’s ranking include average employee salary, company financial health, and diversity of the workforce. Here is Zippia’s full methodology

Using Zippia, 24/7 Wall St. compiled a list of the best company to work for in each state. While many companies operate on a national an international scale, we ranked them by state in which they are headquartered. To provide additional insight, we also considered company reviews from current and former employees on websites such as Glassdoor — though those reviews were not a factor in the ranking. Data on revenue and employment came from corporate websites and SEC filings.

Because average pay was one of the components used in ranking these companies, many are relatively high paying and are in industries that tend to pay well. For example, several companies on this list are law firms. Others are in the finance sector. Some even rank among the highest paying companies in the country. Here is a look at America’s highest paying companies

The companies on this list are often emblematic of their corresponding state economies. For example, several energy companies on this list are headquartered in states with massive resource extraction industries, like Texas and Wyoming. Here is a look at the largest industry in each state.

The Average American Is Losing Their Savings Every Day (Sponsor)

If you’re like many Americans and keep your money ‘safe’ in a checking or savings account, think again. The average yield on a savings account is a paltry .4% today, and inflation is much higher. Checking accounts are even worse.

Every day you don’t move to a high-yield savings account that beats inflation, you lose more and more value.

But there is good news. To win qualified customers, some accounts are paying 9-10x this national average. That’s an incredible way to keep your money safe, and get paid at the same time. Our top pick for high yield savings accounts includes other one time cash bonuses, and is FDIC insured.

Click here to see how much more you could be earning on your savings today. It takes just a few minutes and your money could be working for you.
