Worst Movies to Stream on Amazon Prime This Month

Choosing a movie to watch is always a roll of the dice. Sometimes you can anticipate the quality of a given film, but until you see it firsthand, you never know what your reaction is going to be. After all, bad movies are out there, sometimes in droves. And there’s nowhere that they’re quite as rampant as on streaming services. (Speaking of bad movies, take a look at The Worst Movies of All Time.)

Although a service like Amazon Prime does have a number of quality programs, both television and movies alike, it is also the streaming service with the most content; there are a whopping 24,000 movies in its catalog. As you can imagine, that means there are bound to be some flops among the cream of the crop. But just how bad are the worst movies Amazon has to offer? With such a wide range of titles, how could anyone ever know? (You’re on safer ground if you stick to Best Picture nominees and winners you can stream right now.)

Well, in the pandemic, at least, as streaming services have begun arguably more popular than ever, the amount of content being consumed by the masses is ever flowing – as are their scathing reviews. To determine the worst movies streaming on Amazon Prime this April, 24/7 Tempo developed an index using average ratings on IMDb, an online movie database owned by Amazon, and a combination of audience scores and Tomatometer scores on Rotten Tomatoes, an online movie and TV review aggregator, as of April 2022, weighting all ratings equally. We considered only movies with at least 5,000 audience votes on either IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes, and ruled out documentaries. (Data on streaming availability, current as of this month, comes from the streaming guide Reelgood, and directorial credits are from IMDb.)
