The 50 Best Movies to Stream on Hulu This Month

Looking for a great movie to watch on Hulu? In the month of July, you won’t have to look far. Already home to an existing library of classics, they’ve added a fresh batch of high-rated titles for your viewing pleasure.

To determine the best movies to stream on Hulu Plus this July, 24/7 Tempo developed an index using average ratings on IMDb, an online movie database owned by Amazon, and a combination of audience scores and Tomatometer scores on Rotten Tomatoes, an online movie and TV review aggregator, as of June 2022, weighting all ratings equally. We considered only movies with at least 5,000 audience votes on either IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes that are streaming on Hulu Plus. Documentaries were not considered. (Data on streaming availability, current as of this month, comes from the streaming guide Reelgood, and directorial credits are from IMDb.)

If you haven’t yet seen Stephen Chow’s action comedy masterpiece “Kung Fu Hustle,” prepare for a wild cinematic experience. Speaking of wild cinema, Boots Riley’s 2018 satire “Sorry to Bother You” is quite unlike anything we’ve ever seen, and so too is John Carpenter’s 1986 genre mash-up “Big Trouble in Little China.” All three titles were added to the Hulu library in the month of July. (On Hulu and elsewhere, these are the best comedy movies available to stream right now.)

Other recent additions include the award-winning biopics “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Milk,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and “127 Hours.” The 2011 dramedy “The Descendants” also arrived this month, and it finds George Clooney playing a man of many vulnerabilities. Watch it back-to-back with “Sideways” – also available on Hulu – for an Alexander Payne double-header. (Here are the Best Picture nominees and winners you can stream right now.)
