Microsoft Launches "Surface" Super Tablet

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) decided to blow the roof off of the tablet market with its “Surface” tablet PC. By all appearances, it has features to outgun the competition, perhaps even the Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPad.

At the very least, no one will be able to say that Steve Ballmer left anything on the field.

Some of the specs:

Surface has a 10.6″, 16:9 widescreen HD Display. Microsoft’s ClearType HD Display

Runs on Windows RT or comes with an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro.

9.3 mm thin, with microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video, 2×2 MIMO antennae

The product also will give users access to the Windows Store for video and audio.

Now, as is the case with almost all new consumer electronics products, sales in the first week will tell the tale.
