Digital media research firm comScore Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR) has released its ranking of the top 50 U.S. web properties for July and the list is topped, once again, by the usual suspects. comScore counted a total audience of unique website visitors of more than 227 million, more than two-thirds of the total U.S. population, and about 3 million more than the total March 2013 count.

Leading the pack are sites owned by Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) with more than 191 million unique visitors. Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO) sites attracted more than 165 million visitors to nab second place, followed by Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) with more than 164 million unique visitors, Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ: FB) with about 144 million, and Aol Inc. (NYSE: AOL) with more than 104 million. No other sites topped 100 million unique visitors in July.

Since March, Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) sites have slipped from about 121 million to about 95 million unique visitors. In fact, since March 2013 every one of these properties have seen their total number of unique visitors drop, with largest fall coming at Yahoo, down from 191 million, even though the total number of unique viewers has risen. Google’s total is down by about 1 million.

Measured by advertising reach, the top advertising entity is AddThis with a 97.7% reach compared with number 2 Google’s 80.9% reach. Outbrain and ShareThis rank third and fourth, followed by Yahoo at fifth with a reach of 72.7%, Facebook with a reach of 62.5%, and YouTube with 52.3%. Rounding out the top ten are AOL with 46.2%, Microsoft’s MSN with 42%, and Microsoft’s Bing with 35.1%.

Among the properties that are being added to the list are Townsquare Media Inc. (NASDAQ: TSQ) which came out of its post-IPO quiet period today and Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) the only big bank in the top 50, and along with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) the only primarily non-digital companies in the rankings.
