Reuters: Oops. Nevermind.

Apple, it turns out, did NOT remove 3D Touch components from the iPhone XS Max.

From WITHDRAWAL: Apple shaves cost from displays in newest iPhones – analyst firm:

The Reuters story “Apple shaves cost from displays in newest iPhones -analyst firm” published Sept. 25 is withdrawn because analyst firm TechInsights of Canada now says its analysis of Apple’s iPhone Xs Max parts was inaccurate and that parts were not removed from the iPhone’s display. There will be no replacement story.

My take: Truth boots etc. TechInsights had estimated, based on its error, that in terms of parts and assembly costs the 256-gigabyte iPhone Xs Max that sells for $1,249 in the United States costs $443 to make. That number is still flying around the internet.
