Apple caves, gives bagel a schmear

From Mashable’s Apple fixes the bagel emoji because New Yorkers weren’t happy:

Jeremy Burge, Chief Emoji Officer at Emojipedia, tells Mashable that Apple’s previous bagel “did a great job” conveying the “concept of a bagel” but many people “didn’t think it looked sufficiently appealing. “Especially people from New York,” he qualifies…

It’s worth noting that this bagel controversy happened before the emoji was even made available to the general public.
