Juniper's Mixed Picture

Juniper Networks (JNPR-NASDAQ) is giving it up a bit in after-hours; shares closed up 1.75% at $19.82 in regular trading and are down about 2% at $19.40 on last look.  In all honesty they have been whipping around all over the place, so we won’t hang our hat on any direction until the full data is out.

Revenues rose 4% to $595.8 Million versus $593 Million estimates.  Its own guidance was $590 to $595 million.  Unfortunately the company isn’t giving an EPS number because of the ongoing options review, so now it is several filings behind.

Net cash and equivalents and investments increased over $200 million during the fourth quarter of 2006 to $2.6 billion.  They haven’t given guidance in their press release and the street has already learned to be skeptical when that occurs.  As of last March it carried over $1 Billion in stated liabilities and over half of the balance sheet was goodwill, so don’t think the assets above listed are purely all net-net.
