Google (GOOG): The G-Phone Comes To Market

Rumored for so long, it now appears that Google’s (GOOG) G-Phone will come to market. The search company will announce that it will produce handsets along with Taiwan’s HTC Corp and LG Electronics, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The first phones will probably be marketed through T-Mobile in the US.

The company has made the unusual decision to make the software and operating system of the phone open to other developers so that free and new applications can be added to the system. The handsets will be loaded with basic Google apps such as search, YouTube, Maps, and G-Mail.

Google may be able to collect advertising revenue from targeting use patterns on the handsets.
