Citing a report from mobile phone security firm Lookout, Digital Trends reports that $30 billion worth of mobile phones were lost in the US last year. That’s nearly $100 for every man, woman, and child in the country.

If you live in Philadelphia, you are among the most likely to lose your phone. Other US cities with high loss rates are Seattle, Oakland, Long Beach, Newark, Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore, New York and Boston. Coffee shops, bars, and offices top the list of places where phones are lost. If you live in Chicago, the third-likeliest place to lose your phone is in church.

And it’s probably no surprise that the highest number of phones disappear between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. The whereabouts of a mobile phone is far less likely to be on one’s mind at those hours.
