The Amazon Surprise: Nokia Windows Phone Leads Top Sellers (AMZN, NOK, MSFT, T, VZ, RIMM, GOOG, AAPL)

Lists of top-sellers at single destinations do not always equate to broad-reaching trends around the entire nation nor around the entire globe. Still, when you see a surprise like this it tends to stand out a bit more than a sore thumb. The Nokia Lumia 900 4G Windows Phone is the top spot on the Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) Best Sellers list today when it comes to cell phones with service plans. This particular model is the black phone via AT&T, Inc. (NYSE: T) and it has to be making both Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) happy.
The ‘cyan’ colored version is listed as the #3 top-seller behind the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX 4G Android Phone (Black 32GB model) sold for Verizon Communications, Inc. (NYSE: VZ). For all practical purposes, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is not in the top 20 due to direct selling at the carrier stores today. It is also worth noting that Research in Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ: RIMM) only holds one spot in the top-20 and that is the ironic #13 position.
Nokia stock is down with the broader markets today but only by 0.6% at $5.08, while Microsoft shares are down 1.1% at $31.17. Microsoft has to be happy to be topping any list for its Windows phone after sales channel after sales channel are so dominated by Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) via Android and the iPhone from Apple.
Maybe there is room for the Windows mobile platform after all. Maybe.
