Who Keeps Cloning Email from Sprint CEO Dan Hesse?

If you ever worry about improper usage of email, identity theft, impersonation and other online troubles that we all never used to have, imagine if you are the chief executive officer of a very well-known company with millions of customers. Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S) appears to be a victim of this, although there is no code seen yet that would be deemed malicious.

For several mornings I have received an email from Dan (at) Sprint (.) com yet I have never sent an email to Sprint customer support, customer suggestions, nor even to the CEO himself. The email reads:

Thank you for taking the time to write.

A Sprint representative will be contacting you.

From all of us at Sprint, thank you.

Dan Hesse
CEO

This is obviously a phishing attempt or an effort to get “The Real Dan’s” email account flooded in the equivalent of a denial of service attack. Either way, the world of email and Internet usage is nowhere close to being safer and less malicious.
