First, Lehman (LEH) was being closed or sold. Then it was under attack from short sellers.Then it was being taken private.
The latest rumor, floated by CNBC, is that LEH will sell off money management operation Neuberger Berman.
According to Reuters, the operation could bring in $8 billion. The question is what other financial company could afford it? Most banks and brokerages are simply trying to stay afloat. Perhaps a sovereign wealth fund will put up the cash.
