Real estate listings are sometime exaggerations. The most searched house on Realtor.com this week is described as a “tree house.” Actually:

Designed to fit into the nature surrounding it, this house climbed to the top of our list. “It’s obviously not a real treehouse, but it feels that way,” according to listing agent Sarah Page. The back of this four-level home is surrounded by trees and the views from the rooftop deck are rife with trees, so you “feel like your sitting up among the trees,” Page said.

Given that it is 2,300 square feet, the builder would have had to find a huge tree.

The home at 3213 Saddlehorn Dr. in Lawrence, Kan., is relatively close to downtown Lawrence, which according to the U.S. Census Bureau has a population of slightly less than 93,000 people. The city houses the University of Kansas, which has about 30,000 students.

The house is priced at $252,000 and has two bedrooms and two and a half baths. Other than that, built in 1978, the contemporary house is ordinary:

Live in a modern day tree house! Beautiful contemporary tucked onto a private lot with pond, rooftop deck, and patio. Open multi-level floor plan with lots of large windows in each room. New stainless steel appliances, countertop and backsplash in kitchen. Original master bedroom boasts updated bathroom and walk-in closet. Other two bedrooms converted into a large two room suite. Sunroom/office off two room suite. Vaulted ceilings, unique skylight, trails and natural landscaping.

It is hard to tell whether there will be ready buyers, because the home has only been on the market for several weeks. One drawback is that people who visit the house will find that it is really not a tree house at all.
