The Week's Top Homes: A Place with Snap! Crackle! Pop! and a $45 Million Mansion

Realtor.com

Even though most of us cannot afford to do any more than look at pictures of multi-million homes, there are a lot of us who like to do so. After all, it can be briefly amusing to imagine what it’s like living in some of these houses.

The folks at Realtor.com have selected the 10 most popular homes for the past week and they include a 1920’s mansion built for a cereal magnate in the 1920s and a Beverly Hills castle built less than 10 years ago.

First up is the Kellogg mansion in Dunedin, Florida (just north of Clearwater). The home was built in 1925 and includes 5 bedrooms in more than 7,600 square feet of living space on a 1-acre lot.

The house was built for cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg and here is a description from the listing:

Built at the height of the Roaring Twenties, this timeless jewel with spectacular panoramic views of St. Joseph’s Sound is affectionately known as the “Kellogg Mansion.” The Estate’s Mediterranean Revival Style features an eclectic blend of motifs from Spanish Colonial architecture infused with rich design elements characteristic of the Spanish and Italian Renaissance. Elegantly appointed, exquisite details throughout such as the hand painted murals commissioned by WK Kellogg, hand carved wood coffered ceilings and one-of-a-kind stained glass windows demonstrate the opulence and luxury of the period.

The listing price is $4.5 million where the median listing price is $286,200 and the median sales price is $232,500. Photos and more details here.

A $45 million Beverly Hills French-chateau style house on a nearly 2-acre lot with 10 bedrooms and nearly 23,000 square feet of living space is another featured home this week:

Sited on 2+ acres of meticulously landscaped grounds, this compound features a Moroccan themed movie theater, elevator, ballroom, tennis court, & indoor pool & spa complete with treatment rooms, sauna & steam-room. The enormous master suite is truly fit for royalty and features an expansive terrace, soaring ceilings with intricate crown molding, & well-appointed dual closets & bathrooms. Built with the highest standards, the ornate wood paneled office & library features a glass floor that reveals a 2500 bottle wine cellar below.
