$12 Million Jackie Gleason Home Is Week's Most Viewed

Realtor.com

An 8-acre estate complete with a main house and two outbuildings is located on the market in Cortlandt Manor, Westchester County, New York for $12 million. The property once belonged to actor and comedian Jackie Gleason, who built the house in 1959.

For those who may be too young to know who Jackie Gleason was, he became famous in the 1950s with a now-iconic TV sitcom called “The Honeymooners.” He also hosted his own TV variety show and, among other accomplishments in a long career, was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as pool player Minnesota Fats in the 1961 film “The Hustler.” Gleason died in 1987.

In the home’s listing at Realtor.com, we get a little taste of the mystique of the house:

[T]he enchanted 8-acre estate of the Great Jackie Gleason & his Famous Round House … Go back in time down the ramp to a smiling Jackie w his cigarette & playing his baby grand. Marilyn Monroe leaning over the strings smiling as Frank Sinatra is crooning by the 14 person bar. It has 2 bars & 3 pit Italian marble fireplaces & cardroom.

The main house is a 3-story, circular building with 5 bedrooms along with 4 full bathrooms and 2 half-bathrooms. The home’s three floors cover 7,450 square feet in 15 finished rooms.

Cortlandt Manor, New York, has a population of just over 24,000, and a median household income of $101,783, according to Trulia. The next owner of the Round House is likely to lift that median income figure.
