The most recent White House news is that no photos of Osama Bin Laden’s corpse will be released to the public. We have heard mixed reports all week about whether or not a photograph would be released. This is an issue that is not really partisan as there are mixed thoughts in both democrats and republicans on this matter. We all had to endure photos, film, and shock after the 9/11 attacks, some which have left permanent scars on many Americans. The White House maintains that there are no doubts that it was Bin Laden who was killed. We want to know what you think and we have a poll just for this.
For starters, there is the “gruesome” factor after the reports have it that Bin Laden was shot in the chest and the head. In short, a photo of the Bin Laden remains won’t be easy to look at regardless of how much you want to get the final confirmation of his death and regardless of how much you want to cheer his death.
There is also the fear that the releasing the photo will only help terror fundraising efforts and that it will ignite more rage and bring back a higher chance of retribution against U.S. and Western allies citizens, diplomats, and interests. Unfortunately, those are real fears with real consequences.
So, we want to know what you think. Understand that releasing the photo will be gruesome, it may increase the chances of harm coming to Americans and our allies, and it may generate the equivalent of “rallying the terror base” to begin taking more action for retribution.
