Delta Airlines Declines, US Air Rises in December (DAL, LCC)

US air carrier Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) reported a -2.3% drop in passenger miles for the month of December. Total capacity declined -3.3% year-over-year. Earlier in the day US Airways (NYSE: LCC) reported a 3.6% increase in passenger traffic in December.

Delta’s shares are up more than 3% today at $8.26 in a 52-week range of $6.41-$13.11. US Air shares are up nearly 8% at $5.43 in a 52-week range of $3.96-$11.56.
