Peak Resorts Withdraws Ski Resort IPO Plans

Peak Resorts Inc. was supposed to be the next ski resort set for an initial public offering. This was not one of our 2012 Top 17 IPOs to Watch but it might have been a runner-up had there been a larger impact. The company has now withdrawn its IPO paperwork with the SEC. It did not blame weather nor the economy, even though both may be at work in some parts of its business…

The company noted, “Because the Company does not expect its Registration Statement on Form S-1 (File No. 333-173567) to become effective within 60 days of the date the original Form 8-A was filed, the Company respectfully requests that the Securities and Exchange Commission withdraw the Form 8-A.”

The ski resort operator filed for its IPO back in November. It operates 12 skiing outfits located throughout the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast United States. The IPO funds were earmarked to repay debt tied to the Mount Snow ski operation in Vermont and for working capital. Here is a list of the resorts it operates:
