Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) recently decided it needs to conqure the part of the eating and drinking day it does not already own in part–dinner time. The company has done modest experiments in a small number of stores which have served wine and food at the end of the day.
Now, the coffee company wants to take on chains which offer meals to late day dinners in earnest.

Responding to customer feedback for more options to relax in its stores in the evenings, Starbucks Coffee Company today announce plans to bring wine, beer and premium food offerings to a handful of locations in Atlanta and Southern California by the end of this year. These stores, along with several others recently announced for the Chicago area, will be the first extensions of the evening day-part concept outside of the Pacific Northwest.
