Fast-food giant McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE: MCD) reported this morning that same-store sales for January rose 6.7% year-over-year, higher that the company’s own earlier estimate of 6.1%-6.5%. Sales in the US rose 7.8%, the largest gain of any of the company’s regions.
January sales growth for the entire company came in at 9.1% in constant currency terms.
In Europe, same-store sales grew 4%, led by sales in the U.K., Russia, Germany and France. Sales rose 7.3% in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa region, helped by the lunar new year holiday.
