The 52-Week Low Club for Wednesday

March 9, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 26 equities making new 52-week lows in Wednesday’s session.

Unisys Corp. (NYSE: UIS) fell by nearly 28% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $7.96 against a high of $24.38. The stock closed at $11.03 on Tuesday night. Volume rose to more than 8 million shares, about 20 times the daily average of about 430,000 shares traded. The tech services company’s corporate rating was dropped from ‘B1’ to ‘B2’ by Moody’s Investors Service this morning. The rating agency also put a negative outlook on the firm.

Celldex Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: CLDX) posted a new 52-week low on Wednesday. Shares traded at a low of $3.45, down about 6.3%, after closing at $3.68 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $32.82. Volume totaled about 20% above the daily average of around 3.3 million shares. The company said on Monday that it is discontinuing the phase 3 trials of its brain tumor vaccine and that took the stock down by more than half. Shares continue to slide but not plummet.

Osiris Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: OSIR) dropped nearly 19% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $5.25 against a 52-week high of $23.67. The stock closed at $6.46 on Tuesday night. Volume rose to nearly 2.5 million shares, more than 10 times the stock’s daily average volume of around 220,000. The company had no specific news today.

Dynavax Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: DVAX) dropped by about 4.8% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low at $15.80 after closing at $16.59 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $32.49. Share volume was about equal to the daily average of around 1.2 million shares traded. The biopharma company’s shares recovered to trade up more than 2% near the end of the day Wednesday after missing revenue estimates when it reported earnings on Tuesday night.
