General Electric, Ford Plummet into Monday’s 52-Week Low Club

February 5, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 341equities making new 52-week lows in Monday’s session. On the NYSE decliners led advancers by about 9 to 1 and on the Nasdaq, decliners led advancers by nearly 7 to 1.

General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) fell about 4% Monday to post a new 52-week low of $15.01 after closing at $15.64 on Friday. The 52-week high is $30.59. Volume of about more than 88 million was about equal to the daily average. The company had no specific news, but a new jet engine designed for a new Boeing plane has hit a speedbump.

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) traded down about 3.4% Monday and posted a new 52-week low of $10.35 after closing Friday at $10.71. The stock’s 52-week high is $13.48. Volume was around 67 million, nearly 65% above the daily average of about 40 million shares. The company had no specific news.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK) dropped about 11% Monday to post  a new 52-week low of $3.00 after closing at $3.33 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $6.65. Volume was around 45 million, about 55% above the daily average of around 28.8 million. The company had no specific news.

Weatherford International plc (NYSE: WFT) traded down nearly 13% Monday and posted a new 52-week low of $3.05 after closing Friday at $3.50. The stock’s 52-week high is $7.09 Volume was around 42 million, nearly double the daily average of around 22 million shares. The company missed analysts’ earnings and revenues estimates last Friday.
