Speculation, criticism and mixed emotions have all been reactions around the new College Football Playoff system, but this year’s Sugar and Rose Bowls will serve as both pivotal playoff matchups and CFB’s most expensive bowl games of the season on the secondary market. Both games will determine the participants in the first annual College Football Championship Game, with the top four schools competing at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Following the two semifinal games in price are the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl held at the Georgia Dome, Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium and Fiesta Bowl at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Below are the five most expensive bowl games on the secondary market, according to TiqIQ.

1/1/15 CFP Semifinal Sugar Bowl — Alabama vs Ohio State at Mercedes-Benz Superdome  |  Avg. Price: $480.22  |  Get-in: $198

The Sugar Bowl in New Orleans will be the highest-priced bowl game on the secondary market this season, with the game’s average price listed at $480.22. The get-in price for Sugar Bowl tickets on TiqIQ currently starts at $198. No. 1 ranked Alabama will play No. 4 ranked Ohio State, who climbed from the No. 6 spot following a shutout win against Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship two weeks ago. The Buckeyes will have their hands full with the Crimson Tide, however, as head coach Nick Saban’s team has have won eight straight games and cruised to an easy victory over Missouri in the SEC Championship Game.

1/1/15 CFP Semifinal Rose Bowl — Oregon vs Florida State at Rose Bowl  |  Avg. Price: $376.75  |  Get-in: $148

The Sugar Bowl’s semifinal counterpart in the Rose Bowl will serve as the second most expensive bowl game on the secondary market this season. The average secondary price for Rose Bowl tickets on TiqIQ is $376.75 with a get-in price listed at $148. The game has penned No. 2 ranked Oregon against No. 3 ranked Florida State in a battle between the Pac-12 champion Ducks and ACC champion Seminoles. The game’s highest point of interest will come from both teams’ star quarterbacks in Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston, who will likely be drafted high if they declare for the 2015 NFL Draft.

12/31/14 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl — Ole Miss vs TCU at Georgia Dome  |  Avg. Price: $232.54  |  Get-in: $82

This year’s Peach Bowl will see Ole Miss take on TCU at the Georgia Dome on New Year’s Eve. The average price for Peach Bowl tickets is $232.54 with a get-in price of $82 on the secondary market. The Rebels head to Atlanta on the heels of a 9-3 season that saw them dominate the AP rankings over the first several weeks, though crucial conference losses to LSU, Auburn and Arkansas tampered with their rankings by the College Football Playoff committee. TCU was also snubbed by the committee following seven consecutive wins and a convincing victory over Iowa State in the final week of the regular season to be crowned co-Big 12 champions, ultimately falling to the No. 6 spot behind Baylor.

12/27/14 Pinstripe Bowl – Penn State vs Boston College at Yankee Stadium  |  Avg. Price: $230.12  |  Get-in: $94

The fifth annual Pinstripe Bowl will be held at Yankee Stadium on December 27 and will see Penn State battle Boston College. The average secondary price for Pinstripe Bowl tickets is $230.12 and the get-in price is $94. One of just two bowl games held in the Northeast, the Pinstripe Bowl has been a major success since its inception in 2010. Boston College finished with a 7-5 record in the ACC while Penn State travels to the Bronx following a 6-6 season and four consecutive losses between Weeks 5 and 10. Both teams will make their first appearance in Pinstripe Bowl history.

12/31/14 Fiesta Bowl — Boise State vs Arizona at University of Phoenix Stadium  |  Avg. Price: $206.19  |  Get-in: $63

Rounding off this season’s top-priced bowl games is the Fiesta Bowl, which will be played between Boise State and Arizona at University of Phoenix Stadium on New Year’s Eve. The average price for Fiesta Bowl tickets is $206.19 and the get-in price starts at $63. Boise State and Arizona led impressive seasons in the Mountain West and Pac-12 Conference, respectively. Boise State will head to Glendale after an 11-2 season that saw the Broncos post eight straight wins since Week 6. Arizona went 10-3 on the season and finished first in the South Division of the Pac-12. They’ll play Boise State on the heels of a loss to Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game, however, despite handing the Ducks their only loss of the season during a Week 5 matchup in Oregon.
