The Memorial Day holiday has come to be acknowledged as the unofficial beginning of summer. A graphic from research firm WalletHub at the end of this story summarizes many of the ways that we celebrate this holiday, but it also reminds us that Memorial Day was made a national holiday in 1967 to honor those Americans who have died in service to their country.
Barbeques, traveling and shopping on the holiday weekend are among the most popular ways Americans celebrate, and Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE: BBY) already has kicked off an appliance sale for the holiday weekend that includes free shipping on items costing $399 or more. The sale ends June 8.
Black stainless steel is a currently popular appliance finish, and Best Buy is offering a Samsung Showcase 27.8-cubic foot four-door refrigerator (RF28JBEDBSG) with a regular price of $3,899.99 for $2,499.99, a savings of 36%.
A Samsung 28.2-cubic foot, four-door French door refrigerator (RF28HMEDBSR) is on offer for $2,094.99, a savings of $1,205 (36.5%). Delivery is free, but there may be a fee for hauling away the old refrigerator.
Best Buy also has a KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus Stand Mixer in silver (KV25G0XSL) on sale for $224.99, a savings of 50% from the regular price of $449.99. Standard shipping is free.
A Dyson Ball multi-floor bagless upright vacuum cleaner is on sale for $299.99, a savings of 25% from the regular price of $399.99. Standard shipping is also free on this item.
Finally, a Whirlpool 1.7-cubic foot over-the-range microwave oven in black stainless steel (WMH31017A) is on sale for $189.99, a savings of 27% from the regular price of $259.99. Store pickup is free and so is standard shipping.
