Short Sellers Pull Bets on 3D Printing Stocks

Short Sellers Pull Bets on 3D Printing Stocks

Short interest during the two-week period ending July 15 dropped on all four 3D printing stocks we follow. Share prices also rose on three of the stocks during the short interest period.

Short interest in 3D Systems Corp. (NYSE: DDD) fell by 2.2% to 27.97 million shares. Some 26.4% of the company’s float was short. Days to cover rose from seven to nine. In the two-week short interest period, the share price rose by more than 14%. The stock’s 52-week trading range is $6.00 to $19.76, and shares closed at $13.25 on Tuesday, up 1.6% on the day.

In the first two weeks of July, Stratasys Ltd. (NASDAQ: SSYS) saw short interest fall by 5.6% to about 7.19 million shares, or 14.9% of the company’s float. Days to cover remained unchanged at eight. The share price rose by about 6.7% in the period, and the stock closed at $20.15 on Tuesday, up about 2.5% on the day, in a 52-week range of $14.48 to $37.54.

Short interest in The ExOne Co. (NASDAQ: XONE) fell by 6.7% to 1.75 million shares. About 19% of the company’s shares were short. ExOne’s share price rose about 5.6% in the two-week period. The stock’s 52-week range is $5.81 to $14.75, and shares closed at $10.57 on Tuesday, up about 2% for the day. Days to cover rose from 13 to 19.

Voxeljet A.G.’s (NYSE: VJET) short interest decreased by 3.6% to 551,134 American depositary shares (ADSs), with days to cover rising from 11 to 13. The share price fell by about 1.5% in the two-week period to July 15. The ADSs closed at $4.40 on Tuesday, up about 3.3% for the day, in a 52-week range of $3.50 to $7.50.
