
In an investigation that began in January 2012, the company found that small cracks in the actuator’s circuit board traces could send a signal to the drive controller that could be wrongly interpreted. The repair will consist of reprogramming the drive controller. The company said it would begin notifying dealers and owners of the recall in June.
The Los Angeles Times also notes that Chrysler will also recall more than 5,000 Jeep Wranglers built between 2007 and 2011 to repair a problem with a driver-side airbag that may not deploy in a crash. Chrysler will also recall 498 Dodge Ram trucks to fix a problem with windshield defrosters.
