According to CNBC, the recalls are now closer to 1.4 million in total. If the number does not sound huge to you, then you are getting desensitized to GM’s recalls. Ford had roughly 1 million recalls last year.
The large recall was 915,000 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner small format SUVs over a potential sensor issue inside the steering column. Its risk is the loss of electric power steering. Another 195,000 Ford Explorer SUVs are being recalled for connection issues inside the steering equipment, also which may result in the loss of power steering.
The third recall involves close to 200,000 Ford Taurus sedans, reportedly on corrosion issues. Another 82,000 sedans from 2006 to 2011 specifically mentioned models are said to have floor mats that may interfere with the gas pedals.
