One recall notice affects about 437,000 Jeep Wrangler SUVs from model years 2011 to 2013 to repair a wiring harness that may be exposed to moisture causing the assembly to overheat. The company has no knowledge of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Of the vehicles affected by this recall, approximately 313,236 are located in the U.S.; 39,627 in Canada; 5,685 in Mexico; and 78,369 outside the NAFTA region.
The second recall affects about 470,000 vehicles equipped with electric hydraulic steering and 3.6-liter V-6 engines. The affected vehicles include the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger sedans, Dodge Challenger coupes, and Dodge Durango SUVs from model years 2011 to 2014. Model year 2012 to 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs are also affected.
The company said that it will resolve an issue that may cause alternator to drain the vehicle’s battery, leading to a loss of electrical power and, in severe cases, causing a fire at the alternator. The company said it knows of no injuries or incidents involving a fire, but there has been been one accident reported that may be related to this problem.
This recall affects 434,581 vehicles sold in the U.S.; 16,080 in Canada; 2,335 in Mexico; and 17,000 outside the NAFTA region.
Shares of Fiat Chrysler are trading up about 3.8% in the mid-afternoon on Friday at $9.06 in a post-IPO range of $7.20 to $12.35.
