An analyst at UBS has said that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) could sell as many as 12 million iPads this quarter if the company can sustain the daily sales rate of 750,000 units/day in the first four days of the product’s availability. Apple has already declared the new iPad launch to be its strongest ever.
The new iPad is still only available in the US; it won’t be on shelves in 24 other countries until this Friday. So while the new device may not be able to sustain its pace in the US, the added sales from around the world could certainly help it to reach those astronomical numbers.
The UBS analyst also pointed out that the quarterly sales forecast does not include sales of the previous version of the iPad. When those are added in, Apple’s revenue upside grows even larger.
