
Perhaps surprisingly Europe is home to the greatest number — 766 — but trails the U.S. in total billionaire wealth with $2.12 billion compared to the total wealth of $2.16 billion for the 552 U.S. billionaires. The data has been collected and published in the Wealth-X and UBS Billionaire Census 2013.”

The top five countries for billionaires are the U.S. (515), China (157), Germany (148), the U.K. (135) and Russia (108). Measured by wealth, U.S. billionaires’ wealth totals $2.06 trillion, nearly 5-times the wealth of Germany’s 148 billionaires and almost 6-times the wealth of China’s 157 billionaires.
Wealth-X forecasts that the number of billionaires will grow to 2,356 at the end of this year and reach 3,873 by 2020.
