Markets in Europe were higher at 6.40 AM New York time.

The FTSE was up .7% to 6,070. Barclays was up 1.6% to 687. BP as up .2% to 575. BT was up .4% to 276.5. GlaxoSmithKline was up 2.8% to 1368. Prudential was up 2.4% to 662. Reuters was up 1.7% to 459.25. Unilever was up .8% to 1373. Vodafone was up .9% to 134.

The DAXX was up .7% to 6,323. Bayer was flat at 39.46. BMW was up 1% to 42.13. DaimlerChrysler was up 1.2% to 44.49. DeutscheBank was up .5% to 98.16. Deutsche Telekom was up .3% to 13.43. Siemens was down .2% to 72.38. VW was up 4.5% to 85.65.

The CAC 40 was up .7% to 5,345. Alcatel was down .1% to 10.08. AXA was flat at 28.84. France Telecom was up .2% to 19.73. ST Micro was down .5% to 13.75. Vivendi was up 1.2% to 29.21.
