Markets in Europe were off modestly at 5.20 AM New York time.

The FTSE is down .2% to 6,107. Barclays is flat at 726. BP is up .3% to 519. BT is up .8% to 293.75. GlaxoSmithKline is down 1.1% to 1411. Prudential is down .2% to 657.5. Reuters is up .9% to 435.25. Unilever is down .1% to 1338. Vodafone is down .4% 1385.

The DAXX is down .4% to 6,616. Bayer is up .3% to 42.36. DaimlerChrysler is down .3% to 50.77. DeutscheBank is down 1.4% to 97.53. Deutsche Telekom is down 2.8% to 12.68. SAP is down 1% to 35.78. Siemens is down .3% to 78.68.

The CAC 40 is off .6% to 5,426. Alcatel-Lucent is flat at 9.37. AXA is down 1% at 30.98. France Telecom is down 1.1% to 19.93. ST Micro is down .2% to 14.37. Vivendi is down .7% to 29.39.
