Earlier this morning Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL) announced that it would acquire network security firm SonicWall Inc. from private equity firm Thoma Bravo LLC and the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan. No price was announced.

Now The Wall Street Journal reports that Dell paid $1.2 billion for the firm, about 67% more than the $717,000 Thoma Bravo and the pension fund paid for SonicWall in 2010.

Neither Dell nor Thoma Bravo would comment on the WSJ report.
