The 52-Week Low Club for Monday

November 30, 2015: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 55 equities making new 52-week lows today.

Vale SA (NYSE: VALE) posted a new low on Monday. Shares dropped about 7.6% to a low of $3.30 from Friday’s closing price of $3.57. The stock’s 52-week high is $9.14. Volume was about 80% above the daily average of around 25.2 million shares. The Brazilian government sued Vale and BHP Billiton following last week’s collapse of a dam that dumped mine tailings into Rio Doce. The two companies are joint owners of the dam.

Southwestern Energy Co. (NYSE: SWN) dropped about 0.5% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $8.70 against a 52-week high of $32.14. The stock closed at $8.74 on Friday night. Volume was about 20% above the daily average of around 13 million shares traded. Shares traded lower early this morning, but have traded up as high as $9.40 as natural gas prices rose earlier today. Shares are on track to close up about 1.5% on the day.

Computer Sciences Corp. (NYSE: CSC) dropped early 57% on Monday to post a new 52-week low of $29.77 against a high of $73.29. The stock closed at $68.62 on Friday night. Volume totaled nearly 7 times the daily average of around 1.4 million shares traded. The company completed a spin-off of its government business, CSRA Inc. (NYSE: CSRA) today. CSRA shares traded at at high of $32.60 and a low of $29.05.

Exelon Corp. (NYSE: EXC) dropped by about 1.1% on Monday to post a new 52-week low at $27.31 after closing at $27.62 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $38.93. Share volume was about 40% lower than the daily average of around 8.2 million. The utility had no specific news today.
