The 52-Week Low Club for Friday

February 26, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 38 equities making new 52-week lows today.

Harsco Corp. (NYSE: HSC) dropped nearly 39% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $3.82 against a 52-week high of $18.00. The stock closed at $6.22 on Thursday night. Volume rose to around 5.6 million shares, nearly 8 times the stock’s daily average volume of around 760,000 The industrial firm suspended its dividend this morning and offered weak guidance for the new fiscal year.

Cara Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: CARA) posted a new 52-week low on Friday. Shares traded at a low of $4.26, down about 38%, after closing at $6.91 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $23.61. Volume totaled nearly 10 times the daily average of around 380,000 shares. The company’s pain relief trial has be put on hold by the FDA while the safety of the drug is being reviewed.

PRA Group Inc. (NASDAQ: PRAA) fell by more than 25% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $20.00 against a high of $64.82. The stock closed at $26.89 on Thursday night. Volume rose to about 3.88 million, about 6 times the daily average of about 660,000 shares traded. The business services company report an earnings miss after markets closed last night.

Summit Midstream Partners LP (NYSE: SMLP) dropped by about 3.6% on Friday to post a new 52-week low at $11.92 after closing at $12.37 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $37.94. Share volume totaled about 7 times the daily average of 425,000 shares traded. The midstream has taken over approximately $1.2 billion in drop-down operating assets from Summit Investments. Shares are on track to close the day up about 4% however.
