Newport News Shipyard, which is a division of Huntington Ingall Industries (HII), is the largest shipbuilding company in America. It’s the only company to provide the US Navy with aircraft carriers and only one of two that provides the Navy with submarines. The company was created when two major shipbuilders merged in 2011, Newport News Shipbuilding and Ingalls Shipbuilding. The latest ship on our list is the Gerald R. Ford-Class, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, while the oldest ship was the Kearsarge-Class, built in 1898. (Also see the 30 newest ships to enter the US Navy.)

24/7 Wall St. reviewed various historical and military sources to identify the most iconic warship and submarine class built by Huntington Ingalls. We included supplemental information from Military Factory and various other sources regarding the type, number of built, and notable ships. (This is every ship and submarine type in the U.S. Navy.)

It remains important to stay ahead of the technology curve in all military endeavors: land, sea, and air. In these rapidly changing times, this is even more the case. Military contracts allow manufacturers to plan ahead and continue their advancements for present and future generations. That security keeps individuals in their jobs and the flow of information going. Ships and submarines have been a long-standing part of our military might, and this fact will not change anytime soon. Understanding how technology has affected this industry helps us carry forward into whatever the future brings us. Huntington Ingalls has proven to be a solid and steady partner in these endeavors over time.

Here is a look at all the warships and submarine classes built by Huntington Ingalls.
