President Trump’s tariff announcement has created concern around the country over which goods will likely see price increases. Some consumers may expect American companies, including American rifle companies, to be immune to tariffs. However, in reality, many manufacturers use parts imported from other countries. Even U.S. companies that have vowed to only manufacture or use parts made in the country likely rely on raw materials imported from somewhere else.

Consumers may also end up paying more for ammo, even from American companies. When imported prices rise, American companies are likely to raise their prices to match new market conditions. Experts recommend stocking up on ammo before the new prices go into effect. (Also see which countries export the most rifles to the U.S.)

24/7 Wall St. identified the top American companies making American-made rifles with data from the ATF.  We reviewed manufacturing figures for thousands of federally licensed gunmakers in the United States and ranked them on total rifle production in 2022.

(This article was updated on April 7, 2025, to reflect concern over rising firearm prices due to President Trump’s tariff plans.)

Why It Matters Now

President Trump’s tariff policy has created confusion and concern over rising prices. While imported firearms will increase in price, Americans may want to look to U.S.-made manufacturers. However, even those prices will rise as companies often use parts or raw materials from other countries. Ammo for firearms is also likely to increase prices.

Here are the 31 companies making the best-selling American-made rifles:
