Markets in Europe were modestly higher at 5.40 AM New York time.

The FTSE was up .1% to 6,237. Barclays was up 1% to 751.5. BP was up .4% to 542. BT was down .9% to 301.75. GlaxoSmithKline was down .3% to 1383. Prudential was up .4% to 705. Reuters was up .2% to 444.75. Unilever was up .2% to 1381. Vodafone was down .8% to 147.75.

The DAXX was up .3% to 6,711. Bayer was up .7% to 43.35. Deutsche Telekom was down 4.3% to 13.55. DaimlerChrysler was up .1% to 48.35. Deutsche Bank was up .3% to 107.04. SAP was up 1.4% to 36.12. Siemens was up .6% to 81.45.

The CAC 40 was up .5% to 5,611. Alcatel-Lucent was up 1.3% to 10.12. AXA was up .7% to 32.23. France Telecom up up 1.7% to 21.01. Sanofi-Aventis was down 1.1% to 69.15. ST Micro was down .1% to 14.45. Vivendi was down a fraction at 31.76.
