Asia Markets 2/28/2007 Shanghai Recovers, Other Market Off Sharply

At 3.25 AM markets is Asia were off sharply with the Shanghai Composite the exception.

The Nikkei fell 2.9% to 17,604. Bridgestone was off 1.4% to 2480. Canon was down 2.7% to 2470. Daiwa Securities was off 5.3% to 1501. Fuji Film was off 2.7% to 5090. Hitachi was off 3.4% to 831. Honda was off 4.7% to 4420. NEC was off 3.1% to 628. Nomura Securities was 5.3% to 2575. NTT was off 4% to 628000. Docomo was off 4.4% to 217000. Sharp was off 4.4% to 2195. Softbank was 5.2% to 2995. Sony was down 5.4% to 6170. Toshiba was down 2.6% to 748. Toyota was off .1% to 8330. Yahoo Japan was down 3% to 44950.

The Hang Seng fell 2.2% to 19,708. Cathay Pacific was off 3% to 19.4. China Mobile was down 2.2% to 73.25. China Netcom was down 4.8% to 18.46. China Unicom was down 2.3% to 10.14. HSBC was down .9% to 136.5. PCCW was down 1.1% to 4.63.

The KOSPI was off 2.6% to 1,417.

The Straits Times was down 3.7% to 3,113. Chartered Semi was down 5.7% to 1.49. Singapore Air was down 2.5% to 15.8. Singapore Telecom was down 3.6% to 3.18.

The Shanghai Compost was up 3.9% to 2,881.
